Creation Lab with little house
For our 5th Creation Lab we are excited to announce that for the very first time the lab will take place over a two week period! Participants can choose to do one week or both. In both weeks you will learn about our working methodologies and experience our creative process and studio environment. Creation Lab is led by director Heather Stewart alongside our collaborators and dancers. Creation lab takes place in the arts district of downtown Portland, Maine in the historic Maine Mechanics’ Hall Ballroom
This Creation Lab is designed for pre professional and professional dancers and movement artists. Participants must be 17+ to attend.
The cost for one week is $500, $850 for two weeks. Get an early bird rate ($450 for one full week, $800 for two weeks if you sign up before May 1st 2025)
Half of the tuition is due upon signing up and the remaining balance is due one week before the lab begins. Payment plans and reduced rates are available - please reach out if you need assistance.
Options to drop in for morning class only. While we cannot offer housing we are available to help participants find places to stay! Please reach out if you would like to be connected to other dancers who are planning to attend and are also in need of housing.

WEEK ONE: Repertoire & Restaging
Week One of Creation Lab will have a stronger focus on little house repertoire. We will be teaching rep from a past performance work. Dancers should be prepared to learn a significant amount of choreography. During this process the dancers will engage with little house by learning one of our pieces. There will also be a morning technique class and shorter labs that focus on elements of creative process. On the last day we will have a studio sharing where we will invite members of the public to see the work we have remounted. An example of the schedule for the first week is below:
WEEK TWO: Deep Dive into Creation & Process
During the second week a stronger emphasis will be places on creative process and creation. Each day will consist of class, improvisation, and a creation lab where we will make work together. At the end of the week we will have an open studio sharing where we will invite members of the public to experience what we have made! An example schedule for the second week is below:
